Woke to a rainy day in Tofino with a heavy surf. Packed the camera gear and wandered to the beach to watch the surf. Having just taken a weekend Long Exposure workshop with Michael Levin in Victoria, I decided to try the technique on the waves pounding against the rocks. As it was raining, I used my rain coat to cover the camera gear and got truly soaked – love it.
I spent almost 3 hours photographing at several spots. Of all the images, this image captured the mood of that day the best.
It’s true, the worst day out making photographs is better than the best day working at your desk.
Photographed with a Canon 1D Mark II N, 24-70 f2.8L, 210 seconds at f16 using a grey 3,0 neutral density filter (10 stop exposure). Image converted to B&W using Silver Efex Pro2.
